In spite of following standard security measures for a WordPress site, WeaverTheme.com was hacked on August 27th. This led to a short-term listing on Google’s and some other sites’ unsafe site list. Fortunately, this now seems to be cleared.
While this hack affected WeaverTheme.com site, the security of the Weaver II theme itself is not compromised in any way. Because Weaver II’s credit link in the footer is turned on by default, some security scanners will flag Weaver II based sites as having issues. Please understand that this is an indirect link – your own sites have not been compromised simply because they use Weaver II as the theme. Some WordPress security scanners will also issue warnings because of the links back to WeaverTheme.com in the admin pages.
I apologize for any inconvenience this hack may have caused. It is difficult to believe the lengths these truly evil people will go through to attack web sites. It is possible that the denial of service attack WeaverTheme.com had been undergoing a week or two ago was related to yesterday’s malware hack. WeaverTheme.com is doing its best to add extra security measures to all its related sites.
